Alena Allen named Dean of the Paul M. Hebert Law Middle at LSU.
BATON ROUGE – LSU has named Alena Allen dean of the Paul M. Hebert Regulation Center. Allen,
a Louisiana indigenous, is now deputy director for the Association of American Legislation
Educational institutions and professor of regulation at the University of Arkansas University of Law. Her extraordinary
mixture of educational, experienced and leadership practical experience distinguished her
amongst the competitive pool of candidates.
“We established out to discover an extremely gifted chief committed to authorized schooling,
scholarship and practice,” said William F. Tate IV, LSU President. “Ms. Allen’s practical experience
has the depth and breadth we require to just take the Paul M. Hebert Law Heart to the upcoming
degree of excellence.”
Allen will start out at LSU on July 17, pending approval by the LSU Board of Supervisors.
“I am thrilled to welcome Professor Allen. As Dean, Professor Allen will lead the
Legislation Center’s contributions to the authorized local community and LSU’s Scholarship Initial agenda,
guaranteeing that our legislation graduates and excellent law college continue to secure, elevate
and advance Louisiana,” reported Govt Vice President and Provost Roy Haggerty. “Professor
Allen is a champion of lawful education and learning and has labored her entire tutorial job to
make improvements to access to healthcare.”
Allen’s scholarship focuses on overall health plan and tort legislation and it has been released
in the North Carolina Legislation Review, the Fordham Regulation Evaluation, the Ohio Condition Legislation Journal,
the BYU Legislation Evaluation and the Cardozo Law Evaluation. She was named an American Modern society of
Medication, Law and Ethics Wellness Scholar at the Centre for Overall health Legislation Studies, St.
Louis College School of Law.

access to a demanding legal education and learning so that graduates are empowered to triumph at
the optimum levels,” Allen explained. “I am thrilled to provide as dean, and I look ahead
to operating with the team, learners, faculty and stakeholders to continue on to advance
the mission and to improve the regulation school’s track record nationally.”
At the University of Arkansas, Allen held a number of management positions, including
associate dean for investigate and school development and interim dean. Prior to joining
the University of Arkansas, Allen was a tenured associate professor at the Cecil C.
Humphreys College of Memphis Faculty of Regulation wherever she was awarded Professor of 12 months
in 2013, the Farris Bobango College Scholarship Award in 2019 and the MLK 50 College
Provider Award in 2021. She also served as director of range, director of analysis
and was elected to serve in the college senate. Allen taught courses in wellbeing regulation,
wellness legislation finance, torts and family members regulation.
Allen earned her bachelor’s diploma, magna cum laude, from Loyola College New Orleans.
She is a graduate of the Yale Legislation University, exactly where she was the article content editor of the
Yale Journal of Regulation. She was a law clerk for Judge Samuel H. Mays, U.S. District
Court for the Western District of Tennessee, then for Decide Paulette J. Delk, U.S.
Personal bankruptcy Courtroom for the Western District of Tennessee. She labored as an associate
in the healthcare group at Arnold & Porter’s Washington, D.C. business and the staff
rewards group at Baker Botts in Houston, Texas.
LSU performed a nationwide search for the dean of the Paul M. Hebert Regulation Heart and
invited 4 candidates to campus for interviews and open boards with college students, school
and staff. Troy Blanchard, dean of the University of Humanities & Social Sciences, chaired
the research committee.
